Retherford
Laura Retherford has joined Maine College of Art & Design as associate vice president of development. She brings more than 20 years of experience in development and nonprofit management, including leading several successful campaigns in the greater Portland area. Most recently, she served as the director of Leadership Giving for the ACLU of Maine.
Ruby
Ray Ruby has been appointed executive director of the Maine Cancer Foundation, previously serving as director of development. Prior to joining the foundation team in 2018, he served in various leadership roles at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Maine and the Boys and Girls Club of Southern Maine after serving as an officer for the Portland Police Department for seven years.
Dr. Matthew Grunwald, Vicki Cook and Kate Rossiter have been hired by Portland Gastroenterology Center. Grunwald practices gastroenterology and hepatology, with a focus on advanced liver disease. Cook and Rossiter are members of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Smith-Pinkham
United Way of Mid Coast Maine’s has named Megan Smith-Pinkham of Bath Savings as its Volunteer of the Year. The organization also honored Hannaford for 2022 overall campaign excellence and L.L.Bean and Bath Iron Works for outstanding organizational support. The campaign raised $1.57 million, 95% of goal, according to Chairwoman Mara Pennell Pennell, vice president of commercial lending for Bath Savings.

Town & Country Federal Credit Union has awarded eight charitable organizations with shares of a total of $25,000 in Better Neighbor Fund grants. The winners of $5,000 grants were Palaver Strings of Portland, to expand access to string music education classes and instruction to young children across Southern Maine; First Lutheran Church of Portland to provide preschool tuition assistance to local families; and Esther Residence of Saco to help continue and expand a family-centered parent coaching program for women coming out of incarceration. Winners of $2,000 grants were: Maine Association of Recovery Residences, Portland; The Summer Camp, Bridgton; Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, Westbrook; Through These Doors, Cape Elizabeth; and Riding to the Top, Windham.
