CASCO — A family of three in Casco was left homeless Friday night when their mobile home was destroyed by an intense fire, Casco Fire Department Chief Brian Cole said Saturday.

“No one was home at the time,” Cole said. “When we arrived the building was heavily involved with fire. There wasn’t much to save.”

No firefighters were injured, but the family’s dog was in the home and died.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Cole said.

The names of the homeowners have not been released, but the Red Cross was contacted to help the family, and there is an outpouring support from family members and friends, Cole said.

Mutual aid was provided at the scene by Naples and Raymond fire departments, Cole said.

Firefighters got the call at around 7:18 p.m. The fire was under control at about 7:55 p.m.
