Catherine Dyer Welch, 99, of Arundel, passed away on Nov. 16, 2022, at York Hospital in York after a brief illness.
Catherine was born March 9, 1923, in Stanberry, Missouri, the daughter of Chester and Elizabeth (Yerson) Dyer. Moving to Kennebunk with her family, she attended Kennebunk schools and is a graduate Kennebunk High School, class of 1941.
During her working career, she helped her husband, Zip, run his autobody business, worked in the office of Kennebunk High School as an administrative assistant to the principal, and then worked for several years with Kennebunk Savings Bank.
Following her retirement, she and Zip loved to travel widely in the United States and spending time at their camp in West Carry, Maine. The couple settled in Titusville, Florida, for 10 years, returning to Kennebunk when they turned 80.
She is predeceased by her husband, Freeman “Zip” Welch, and her four brothers.
Survivors include her sons, Russell Welch and his wife Candy of Arundel, Dean Welch and his wife Lynn; Kenneth Welch and his wife Becky, all of Kennebunk; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be held, with interment in Hope Cemetery, Kennebunk.
