Zakiyah Franklin notched 21 points as Kansas rolled to a 76-49 women’s basketball victory over Maine in the St. Mary’s Thanksgiving Classic on Friday in Moraga, Calif.

Taiyanna Jackson had 14 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks for Kansas (4-0). Wyvette Mayberry added 13 points and Holly Kersgieter finished with 11.

Caroline Bornemann led Maine (2-3) with 14 points and seven rebounds. Abbe Laurence also reached double figures with 10 points.

(2) STANFORD 93, FLORIDA GULF COAST 69: Haley Jones had 24 points and 14 rebounds to help the Cardinal (6-1) pull away from the Eagles (4-1) in the first round of the Rainbow Wahine Showdown in Honolulu.

(3) UCONN 78, DUKE 50: Lou Lopez-Senechal scored 23 points and the Huskies (4-0) routed the Blue Devils (5-1) in the semifinal round of the Phil Knight Legacy tournament in Portland, Oregon.

Aaliyah Edwards added 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Azzi Fudd scored 14 points.

(10) LOUISVILLE 100, LONGWOOD 37: Chrislyn Carr scored 17 points and the Cardinals (5-2) routed the Lancers (1-4) in Louisville, Kentucky.

DEPAUL 76, (14) MARYLAND 67: Aneesah Morrow scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Keke Rimmer and Jorie Allen also had double-doubles and the Blue Demons (3-2) dominated down the stretch to knock off the Terrapins (4-2) in Fort Myers Tip-Off in Florida.

(16) CREIGHTON 57, XAVIER 51: Lauren Jensen made a clutch 3-pointer and scored 18 points, and she and Morgan Maly sank six free throws in the final 30 seconds as the Bluejays (6-0) beat the Musketeers (5-1) in a Big East Conference opener at Cincinnati.

(20) UCLA 72, JACKSON STATE 60: Charisma Osborne scored 20 points and freshman Londynn Jones added a season-high 16 as the Bruins (7-0) held off the Tigers (2-3) in Los Angeles.

(21) BAYLOR 92, SAINT LOUIS 58: Sarah Andrews scored 16 points with six assists, Darianna Littlepage-Buggs had 13 points and 14 rebounds, and the Bears (4-1) defeated the Billikens (1-6) in the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Florida.

(22) MICHIGAN 68, AIR FORCE 48: Emily Kiser scored 20 points, Leigha Brown added 13 and the Wolverines (5-0) defeated the Falcons (3-2) in the first round of the Gulf Coast Showcase in Estero, Florida.

(23) VILLANOVA 83, BELMONT 80: Maddy Siegrist scored 29 points and the Wildcats (5-0) rebounded from blowing a 21-point lead in the second half against Belmont (1-4) in Estero, Florida.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

IOWA STATE 70, (1) NORTH CAROLINA 65: Caleb Grill hit seven 3-pointers and scored a career-high 31 points, and the Cyclones (5-0) rallied in the final five minutes to stun the Tar Heels (5-1) in the semifinals of the Phil Knight Invitational in Portland, Oregon.

Grill was averaging 7.7 points and had made just 4 of 24 3-point attempts for the season entering Friday. But he couldn’t be stopped from beyond the arc, hitting a pair of big 3s to spark Iowa State’s late rally from a 57-49 deficit.

(8) DUKE 71, XAVIER 64: Jeremy Roach scored a season-high 21 points, Mark Mitchell added 16 and the Blue Devils (6-1) withstood a second-half comeback by the Musketeers (4-2) in the semifinals of the Phil Knight Legacy tournament in Portland, Oregon.

(11) INDIANA 90, JACKSON STATE 51: Tamar Bates scored a career-high 22 points and Xavier Johnson added a season-best 16 to lead the Hoosiers (6-0) past the Tigers (0-5) in Bloomington, Indiana.

(23) MARYLAND 95, COPPIN STATE 79: Julian Reese scored 22 of his 24 points in the first half, Hakim Hart added 22 points and the Terrapins (6-0) beat the Eagles (3-5) in College Park, Maryland.

FOOTBALL

NORTH CAROLINA STATE 30, (17) NORTH CAROLINA 27: Ben Finley threw for 271 yards and two touchdowns in his first career start, and the visiting Wolfpack (8-4, 4-4 ACC) beat the Tar Heels (9-3, 6-2) when Noah Burnette duck-hooked a 35-yard field goal try in the second overtime.

North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye connected with Antoine Green from 4 yards out on the final play of regulation to tie the game at 24-all.

(19) TULANE 27, (24) CINCINNATI 24: Michael Pratt found Shae Wyatt for a 30-yard touchdown pass with 5 minutes left to lead Tulane (10-2, 7-1 AAC) to a win at Cincinnati (9-3, 6-2), making the Green Wave the hosts for the American Conference Championship game.

Tyjae Spears rushed for two touchdowns and had 181 yards to contribute to the cause for Tulane, which beat Cincinnati for the first time in five tries. Tulane also snapped the Bearcats’ 32-game home streak.

(23) TEXAS 38, BAYLOR 27: Bijan Robinson rushed for 179 yards and two touchdowns, Jaylan Ford made his fourth interception of the season, and the Longhorns (8-4, 6-3 Big 12) beat the Bears (6-6, 4-5) in Austin, Texas.

Texas kept alive its chances of making the conference title game. If Kansas can beat No. 15 Kansas State on Saturday, Texas will face No. 4 TCU for the Big 12 championship.

NEBRASKA: Former Carolina Panthers coach Matt Rhule is finalizing a deal to become Nebraska’s head coach.

A person with direct knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press that after several days of discussions, Nebraska made Rhule an offer Thursday that persuaded the former Temple and Baylor coach to return to college after two-plus years in the NFL.

Rhule has been out of work less than two months since getting fired five games into his third season with the Panthers.
