Devin Green’s Maine Voices column (“Maine Voices: We need way more information about proposed Payson Park festival,” Nov. 18) echoed my thoughts also. However, since I live in the Back Cove area, I have additional concerns that have been troubling me ever since I read about the proposal.
For three years now, those of us in the Back Cove neighborhood have quietly put up with the construction, noise and rats (yes, rats) from the never-ending project. In addition to not being able to use the boulevard for commuting, we have been trapped on our streets as the Forest Avenue construction or “destruction” doesn’t abate and traffic is held up, forcing us to seek other routes.
A concert venue on the boulevard at Payson Park with upwards of 20,000 people would have been a nightmare for all concerned, unworkable and unfair to our neighborhood.
