Linda Desrochers

SOUTH PORTLAND – Linda Desrochers, 71, of South Portland, passed away on Nov. 24, 2022 in Westbrook. Linda was born in Waterville to Richard and Irene Dorr on Jan. 21, 1951. After graduating South Portland High School in 1969 she worked for the telephone company in Portland for years, until she landed herself a nice job at Hannaford Brothers as an executive administrator for over 30 years.

Linda loved her family more than anything. Growing up she shared her summers where her Grammy Chabot lived in Gorham, N.H. She loved camping, skiing and fishing with the catch of her life, Steven E. Desrochers (even though he never caught a thing), whom she married in 1995. They had many years of blissful love until Steve fell ill and Linda became his fulltime nurse. His passing broke her into a million pieces.

Linda took pride in her part-time job at the Christmas Tree Shop, she always loved a bargain. If she had one, we all had one because “it was a deal”. She was the queen of taking photos, if you didn’t think it was a special event, her pictures reminded you just how special it was.

She happened to fall in love with gambling after traveling on a number of cruises with Steve, however she was named the Penny Queen and that is what she won.

She enjoyed the remainder of her life laughing with her brother, Dickie; her best friend and cousin, Sharon; her daughter, Angela; her granddaughter, Tori Lynn, Billy and Maureen Preston, Connie Morse, and a number of amazing family and friends.

We would like to extend our sincerest thanks to all of you who have supported Linda through her journey of the horrible disease of dementia. Indescribable amounts of thanks go out to Avita of Stroudwater, especially Nicole and Gigi and every other staff member there, and Compassus Hospice of Maine and so, so many others that loved Linda, she will always be known as the cool lady with the purple hair. Our family is eternally grateful to each and every single one of you.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with a short funeral service at 12 p.m., on Nov. 29 at Hobbs Funeral Home in South Portland. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers,

donations may be given to

Compassus Hospice

of Maine.
