Denzel Valentine recorded a triple-double with 17 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, and the Maine Celtics improved to 7-1 with a 132-123 G-League win Sunday afternoon against the Delaware Blue Coats in Wilmington, Delaware.

Eight players scored in double figures for Maine, which led 70-47 at halftime. Mfiondu Kabengele added 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Luka Samanic had 16 points and 11 rebounds. Karma Baldwin and Marvin Smith Jr. each scored 15, JD Davison chipped in with 14, and Marial Shayok and Scottie Lindsey finished with 12 apiece.

WOMEN’S HALL OF FAME: Lindsay Whalen, who helped the Minnesota Lynx win four WNBA championships, will be inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame next spring as part of a five-member class.

Joining Whalen will be ESPN analyst Carolyn Peck, who became the first Black head coach to win an NCAA women’s basketball championship when she led Purdue to the title in 1999. The other inductees are 1984 Olympic gold medalist Cathy Boswell, former Texas women’s athletic director Donna Lopiano and longtime official Lisa Mattingly.

WORLD CUP: Wendy Holdener’s lengthy wait for a slalom victory came to an end, as the Swiss skier shared the top spot with Anna Swenn Larsson in Killington, Vermont.

Mikaela Shiffrin was bidding for a sixth straight win in Killington, and the American was fastest in the first run, but she finished fifth, 0.59 seconds behind the winning duo.

Holdener had the unwanted record of most podium finishes – 30 – without a slalom win. It was also the first individual World Cup success for Swenn Larsson, 31, of Sweden.

TENNIS

DAVIS CUP: Canada won its first Davis Cup title, beating Australia in Malaga, Spain, behind singles victories from Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Auger-Aliassime secured the winning point when he downed Alex de Minaur, 6-3, 6-4, after Shapovalov opened the day by rolling past Thanasi Kokkinakis, 6-2, 6-4.

GOLF

EUROPEAN TOUR: British Open champion Cameron Smith won the Australian PGA Championship for the third time by closing with a 3-under 68 for a three-shot victory in Brisbane, Australia.

Jason Scrivener briefly caught Smith until falling back. He closed with a 67 and tied for second with Ryo Hisatsune (65).

• Dan Bradbury of England got his first European Tour win in only his third start, closing with a 4-under 67 to complete a wire-to-wire victory in the Joburg Open in Johannesburg.

Bradbury won by three shots over Sami Valimaki of Finland (69).

HOCKEY

NHL: Kirill Kaprizov had a goal and two assists to establish a career-high nine-game point streak, and the Minnesota Wild held off the visiting Arizona Coyotes, 4-3.

Sam Steel, Jared Spurgeon and Matt Boldy also scored for the Wild, and Marc-Andre Fleury made 20 saves. Minnesota is 13-2-0 in its last 15 games against Arizona.
