Lewiston High graduate Isaiah Harris finished second in the 800 meters at the Millrose Games at the Armory in New York on Saturday.
Harris ran a personal best in the indoor 800 with a time of 1:45.64. Noah Kibet won the race in 1:44.98 and Clayton Murphy was third in 1:46.38.
BASKETBALL
NBA G LEAGUE: Marial Shayok had 20 points to lead five Maine Celtics in double figures in a 116-105 win over the Cleveland Charge in an NBA G League game at the Portland Expo.
Luka Samanic added 19 points, while Mfiondu Kabengele had 18 and both Denzel Valentine and Kamar Baldwick scored 17 for Maine, which has won five straight.
Blake Francis had 26 points and Rashad Vaugh added 25 for Cleveland.
NBA: A scan done on LeBron James’ troublesome left ankle and foot showed no serious issue, but the newly crowned NBA career scoring leader sat out a second straight game Saturday night since breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s mark earlier in the week.
Still, Coach Darvin Ham expects to see James back on the floor before the All-Star break. When asked whether James might need to be sidelined through the break, Ham offered, “No, I don’t think he’ll allow us to do that.”
WNBA: The Chicago Sky acquired Marina Mabrey as part of a four-team deal on Saturday with the New York Liberty, Dallas Wings and Phoenix Mercury.
The Sky, who lost Candace Parker, Courtney Vandersloot, Azura Stevens in free agency, also received the Mercury’s second-round draft pick next year.
The Wings, who gave up Mabrey, received Diamond DeShields from Phoenix as well as Chicago’s first-round draft picks the next two seasons. Dallas also has the rights to swap first round picks with the Sky in 2025.
HOCKEY
ECHL: Francois Brassard made 41 saves, and Reid Stefanson connected for two goals in a 3-minute span in the first period, sparking the Maine Mariners to a 4-0 win over the Trois-Rivières Lions in Trois-Rivières, Quebec.
Conner Bleackley made it 3-0 late in the second, and Cam Askew added a power-play goal in the third.
NHL: Anthony Cirelli scored twice, including the winner with 43 seconds to play, to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a 3-1 victory over the host Dallas Stars.
• Connor McDavid and Zach Hyman had a goal and an assist each to lead the Edmonton Oilers past the Ottawa Senators 6-3 in Ottawa, Ontario.
• Matt Duchene scored 34 seconds into overtime, Juuse Saros made 23 saves and the visiting Nashville Predators defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1.
• The Calgary Flames scored four times in just over five minutes in their 7-2 win over the Sabres in Buffalo, New York.
• Dylan Larkin and Jonatan Berggren scored two goals apiece and the Red Wings defeated the Vancouver Canucks in Detroit.
• Mike Matheson scored in overtime to lift the Canadiens over the New York Islanders 4-3 in Montreal.
BASEBALL
MLB: Reliever Jason Adam beat Tampa Bay in the first of four arbitration cases involving the Rays and will get $1.775 million instead of the team’s offer of $1.55 million.
Adam was 2-3 with a career-low 1.56 ERA and a career-best eight saves in 67 relief appearances last season, striking out 75 and walking 17 in 63 1/3 innings. The right-hander earned $1.15 million.
FOOTBALL
NFL: Tua Tagovailoa is grateful the Miami Dolphins kept him off the field after suffering his second concussion and he has no doubts about returning to play next season.
The third-year quarterback missed Miami’s final three games, including a playoff loss to Buffalo, after being diagnosed with a concussion following a loss to Green Bay on Dec. 25.
Tagovailoa was 8-5 in his 13 starts and threw for a career-high 3,548 yards and 25 touchdowns with an NFL-best 105.5 passer rating. He plans to be ready for offseason workouts when the Dolphins return.
“No reservations here,” said Tagovailoa, who appeared on Radio Row on behalf of Subway. “I believe you’re either all in or you’re not. So I’m all in.”
SOCCER
PREMIER LEAGUE: Arsenal was held by Brentford to 1-1 at Emirates Stadium, dropping points for the second game in a row and giving Manchester City renewed hope of overtaking them atop the table.
• James Tomkins took advantage of a mistake by Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez to help Crystal Palace draw 1-1 in the English Premier League and remain winless this year.
• Fulham ended Nottingham Forest’s five-game unbeaten run in the English Premier League with a deserved 2-0 win at Craven Cottage.
FRENCH LEAGUE: A weakened Paris Saint-Germain lost a second straight game in all competitions to Monaco 3-1 in the French league, three days before facing Bayern Munich.
Monaco climbed to second place, seven points behind a rattled PSG.
GOLF
PGA TOUR: Scottie Scheffler held onto the lead at the WM Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, Arizona, in a bid to successfully defend his title and regain the No. 1 spot in the world.
The second-ranked Scheffler shot a 3-under 68 in front of some 200,000 fans at TPC Scottsdale to get to 13 under, two strokes ahead of third-ranked Jon Rahm and Nick Taylor.
Rahm also had a 68, holing a curling 40-footer for birdie on the stadium 16th for his third birdie in four holes. Taylor shot 67.
Scheffler would take the No. 1 spot from Rory McIlroy – tied for 28th at 3 under after a 70 – with a victory, as long as McIlroy finishes worse than solo third. Scheffler also could get to No. 1 by finishing solo second if McIlroy is 36th or worse and Rahm doesn’t win.
EUPOPEAN TOUR: Wang Jeung-hun and Alejandro del Rey both shot 6-under 66 to sit atop the leaderboard after three rounds of the Singapore Classic.
They were both 14-under 202 overall. Englishman Richard Mansell was one shot behind after carding a 65.
