Herb Fox’s opine (“Letter to the editor: Florida senator’s manifesto scarier than ‘1984,’ ” Feb. 11), comparing Sen. Rick Scott’s Plan to Rescue America – which begins with education and ends with cutting taxes – with the novel “1984” is perplexing.

The agenda of the Democratic Party (hence forth The Party) includes: indoctrination of critical race theory, which measures standards of success based on the The Party’s program; intimidating Americans by blackballing or lambasting sports figures and celebrities who don’t toe The Party’s line; The Party’s choice to recognize only the climate science it requires; The Party’s manufactured Russian collusion investigation into the opposition, etc., are all Orwellian reasons for concern.

The Party has shown that it wants Americans to think as The Party thinks. It realizes that stupidity is as necessary as intelligence, as is training the populous in not seeing or understanding the arguments that contradict The Party. Yes, Winston, The Party says two plus two equals five.
