Fourth-seeded Westbrook started the game on a 16-3 run and rolled to a 72-31 victory over No. 5 Greely in a Class A South boys’ basketball quarterfinal Saturday night at the Portland Expo.

Westbrook (14-5) made seven 3-pointers in the first half. The Blazes led 21-7 after one quarter and 44-16 at halftime, as nine players scored.

Kolbyn Dunphe led Westbrook with 15 points. Quincy Seavey had 12 and Kelson Custodio 11.

Greely (10-9) got 16 points from Seamus Raftice.

FALMOUTH 51, MT. ARARAT 34: Judd Armstrong had a double-double to lead the top-seeded Navigators (15-4) past the No. 8 Eagles (9-10) in a Class A South quarterfinal. Armstrong tallied 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Lucas Dilworth added 16 points for the Navigators.

Falmouth played without junior big man Chris Simonds, who broke his ankle in practice earlier this week.

The Navigators will take on No. 4 Westbrook in Wednesday’s semifinals.

Falmouth only led 8-6 after one quarter and 23-19 at halftime, but a 6-0 run to start the second half helped open up a 37-26 lead after three quarters.

Mt. Ararat was paced by Parker Bate with eight points.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 55, KENNEBUNK 51: Nate Hebert scored 17 points to help the second-seeded Patriots (16-3) edged the No. 7 Rams (9-10) in a Class A South quarterfinal.

Noah Hebert added 11 points as Gray-New Gloucester overcame a 32-23 halftime deficit and advanced to the semifinals on Wednesday against No. 3 Marshwood. Aidan Hebert scored 10 points and Michael Ryan Jr. had nine for the Patriots.

Theo Pow led Kennebunk with 20 points, while Max Andrews scored 11.

SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 53, TEMPLE ACADEMY 30: Isaiah Cardinal scored 18 points – including 10 in the first quarter – to lead fourth-seeded Seacoast Christian to a Class D South quarterfinal win over fifth-seeded Temple at the Augusta Civic Center.

Cardinal’s early outburst helped Seacoast build an 18-6 lead after one quarter.

Eli Cardinal chipped in with 11 points. Seth Vega had six points and eight steals for the Guardians (7-12), who will play top-seeded Forest Hills in the semifinals on Thursday.

Peyton Reckards scored 10 points for Temple (7-12).

VALLEY 56, VINALHAVEN 45: Harry Lewis scored 27 points and Fisher Tewksbury added 19 as second-seeded Valley (12-7) used a 22-7 third quarter to pull away from No. 7 Vinalhaven (6-9) in a Class D South quarterfinal at the Augusta Civic Center.

Brody Ricker chipped in with seven points.

Robby Swears scored 27 points for Vinalhaven.

GREENVILLE 44, ISLESBORO 32: Liam Mason scored 22 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead the third-seeded Lakers (7-12) over the sixth-seeded Eagles (8-9) in a Class D South quarterfinal at the Augusta Civic Center.

Dominic Murray added 13 points for the Lakers, who will play No. 2 Valley in the semifinals on Tuesday. Greenville pulled away with a 13-6 fourth-quarter edge.

Tobias Conover led Islesboro with 10 points, followed by Dylan Frank with eight.

SKOWHEGAN 68, LAWRENCE 44: Adam Savage scored all 15 of his points in the first half, and Collin LePage finished with 18 points to lead the third-seeded River Hawks (13-6) past the sixth-seeded Bulldogs (8-11) in a Class A North quarterfinal in Augusta.

Skowhegan also got 14 points from Kyle LePage. The River Hawks took control by outscoring Lawrence 37-18 over the middle two quarters.

Parker Higgins scored 12 points and Michael Hamlin had 11 for Lawrence.

MESSALONSKEE 50, NOKOMIS 48: Merrick Smith dropped in a shot from close range at the buzzer as the sixth-seeded Eagles (8-11) upset the third-seeded Warriors (14-5) in a Class A North quarterfinal in Augusta.

Smith, a 6-foot-9 sophomore, took a pass in the lane from point guard Walter Fegel and floated in a shot to send Messalonskee to the semifinals Wednesday against No. 2 Skowhegan.

Dan Parent scored 11 points for the Eagles, including three 3-pointers.

Nokomis, the defending state champion, was paced by Grady Hartsgrove with 14 points. Dawson Townsend and Alex Grant each had 11.

CONY 72, MT. BLUE 50: Parker Sergent scored 26 points, and the fifth-seeded Rams (12-7) led by as many as 29 points in a Class A North quarterfinal win over the No. 4 Cougars (12-7) in Augusta.

Kam Douin contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Zach Poisson led Mt. Blue with 11 points.

BREWER 59, CAMDEN HILLS 46: Brady Saunders scored 17 of his 27 points in the second half, including the 1,000th of his career, and the top-seeded Witches (18-1) avoided a major upset, rallying for a Class A North quarterfinal win over the eighth-seeded Windjammers (5-14) in Augusta.

Brewer trailed 29-22 at halftime but outscored the Windjammers 17-3 in the third quarter, aided by 11 points from Saunders.

Brock Flagg also was in double figures for the Witches with 12 points.

Will Duke and Nolan Ames each had 14 points for Camden Hills.

OLD TOWN 52, FOXCROFT ACADEMY 43: Brendan Mahoney scored 13 points to lead the fourth-seeded Coyotes (17-2) past the fifth-seeded Ponies (13-7) in a Class B North quarterfinal at Cross Insurance Center.

Brayden Brown and Grayson Thibeau chipped in with 12 points apiece.

Cayden Crocker led Foxcroft with 13 points. Adam Conner helped with 11.

ELLSWORTH 70, WASHINGTON ACADEMY 38: Chance Mercier scored 20 points and Kaleb Conners added 17 as the top-seeded Eagles (19-0) defeated the eighth-seeded Raiders (9-11) in a Class B North quarterfinal at Cross Insurance Arena.

Peter Keblinsky chipped in with 13 points for the Eagles, who outscored the Raiders 55-23 over the final three quarters.

Donovan Marzoll tallied 11 points for Washington.

SCHENCK 60, KATAHDIN 39: Brady McAvoy (18 points), Ryan Ingalls (16) and Mason McDunnah (14) shared the scoring load for the third-seeded Wolverines (11-8) in a Class D North quarterfinal win over the sixth-seeded Cougars (13-6) at Bangor.

Grady Ritchie scored 10 points for Katahdin.

MACHIAS 73, WISDOM 50: Shane Feeney torched the seventh-seeded Pioneers (11-9) for 37 points as the No. 2 Bulldogs (15-4) advanced to the Class D North semifinals.

Ethan Foss added 16 points.

Wisdom was paced by Camden Pelletier with 19 points. Dominick Gendreau made five 3-pointers for 15 points.

HOCKEY

BRUNSWICK 3, GORHAM 2: Kaelin Gerwig tied the game 9:24 into the third period and Nick Marro got the winner in overtime as the Dragons (14-1-2) rallied for a win over the Rams (7-9) at USM Ice Arena.

Ethan Patterson also scored for Brunswick. Marro finished with a goal and an assist.

Jasper Crane made 39 saves for Gorham, which got goals from Emmit Sullivan and Corliss Ordway.

CAPE ELIZABETH 6, GREELY 1: Connor Goss scored a short-handed goal and added two assists for the Capers (15-2) in a win over the Rangers (2-15) at Family Ice Center.

Brody Glidden, Philip Coupe and Dimitri Coupe each added a goal and an assist. Dimitri Coupe’s goal was also short-handed.

Colin Blackburn and Brady Hanisko were the other Cape goal scorers.

Greely’s Lucas Martin got an unassisted goal in the third period.
