SOUTH PORTLAND — The Economic Development Committee presented the city’s annual business awards last week, recognizing several local organizations or individuals for outstanding accomplishments in 2022.

The Business of the Year Award went to ShipRight, an order fulfillment and delivery company, for its inclusive employment practices, innovative approach to pandemic challenges and high quality customer service.

The Heart of South Portland Award went to Judith Borelli, public affairs director at Texas Instruments, for her extraordinary community involvement extending far beyond the business community.

The SoPo Sustainability Award went to High Tide Organic LLC for employing regenerative methods in cultivating marijuana that greatly reduced the carbon footprint of a typically high resource-consuming industry.

Other winners were Nelson Metal Fabrication Inc., Small Business of the Year Award; Lincoln & Main Electric Bike Café & Winery, New Business of the Year Award; The Waterfront Alliance, Santo “Sam” DiPietro Community Impact Award; and Southern Maine Community College, Business Leader of the Year Award.
