The Cape Elizabeth Land Trust has received a 2023 Casco Bay Community Grant for a middle school unit on birds.

The project, “Place-Based Middle School Unit on Birds: Migration, Adaptation, Impacts of Climate Change” will instruct students in the importance of land stewardship through curriculum, fieldwork, data collection and the hosting of family nature walks, and will culminate with a 3-D project, according to the Casco Bay Estuary Project, which administers the grants. Outdoor activities for the bird project will take place at Turkey Hill Farm.

The land trust was one of nine recipients the organization’s community grant, which supports new partnerships and innovative projects that engage communities with Casco Bay and its watershed.
