SKOWHEGAN — A man who resigned as co-owner of a Skowhegan restaurant last year after a video surfaced on social media appearing to show him taking a lewd photo of a young woman is serving 30 days in jail for violation of privacy.

Eric Dore, 44, of Madison, was charged with the Class D misdemeanor in August. He pleaded guilty to the charge Monday, according to Maeghan Maloney, the district attorney for Kennebec and Somerset counties.

Skowhegan police Chief David Bucknam said Dore turned himself in Wednesday and is serving his sentence at Somerset County Jail in East Madison.

He was charged in August after meeting with his attorney and Skowhegan police Officer Tyler Lafreniere, the lead investigator, at the Police Department to discuss the incident, Bucknam said at the time.

The unidentified victim was 19, Bucknam said.

In the video posted to Facebook, Dore, then co-owner of the Old Mill Pub in Skowhegan, can be seen interacting with the woman as she stands at the rear of a car in Skowhegan filling out paperwork. At one point he walks behind her and appears to position his cellphone below her skirt before placing the phone in the car.

The incident gained widespread attention after the recording was posted to Facebook by a Madison resident who wrote that it was taken by a person inside a nearby building who began recording after noticing photos being taken of the young woman. The video drew tens of thousands of views and was shared more than 1,500 times.
