Democracy is not negotiable.

I think most of us older than 60 can recall a time when being a Democrat or a Republican was secondary to being an American. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case.

We can talk about issues such as taxation, government programs, environmental legislation, civil rights, reproductive rights, etc., but what’s not debatable is democracy. If you espouse a system where there are no checks on our government leaders, then there is no longer room for debate. I and the majority of Americans believe in one person-one vote, majority rule and the three co-equal branches of government. If you are into cult worship, I cannot and will not accept where you’re coming from.

We have two stark choices: Democracy or autocracy. I believe that democracy is by far the better choice.
