Portland-based Afro-fusion/reggae/ska band Zeme Libre released its fifth album “Take Me Alive” on Jan. 31.
The band is Andrew Yankowsky (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Phil Mantis (bass), Tim Washburn (lead guitar, vocals), David Butts (keys, horns, vocals) and Andy Porta (drums, vocals).
The title track features a guest appearance by Jason Ward from Rustic Overtones on baritone sax. It starts off on a not-in-any-hurry-let’s-just-chill tempo like a roller coaster climbing a hill. Then it springs to life for exciting moments before sliding back into mellow mode.
Zeme Libre will be opening the show for ska band The English Beat at Aura on April 15. Grab tickets here.
