The man who sued Gwyneth Paltrow wishes he didn’t.
A jury in Park City, Utah, concluded Terry Sanderson was “100%” at fault in the ski collision with the Oscar winner, which occurred in 2016 at Deer Valley Resort. Paltrow was awarded $1 and the reimbursement of her legal fees for her countersuit.
Sanderson, a retired optometrist, told reporters he was “very disappointed” to lose the case. He also admitted he probably shouldn’t have bothered pursuing legal action against the 50-year-old Goop founder. When asked whether the lawsuit was worth it, Sanderson had a blunt but certain answer.

“Absolutely not,” he said, according to a video from Extra.
Sanderson could owe Paltrow up to $1 million in legal fees. The televised trial also included testimony from the 76-year-old doctor’s daughters and ex-girlfriend. Details about his medical history were also exposed.
“Knowing that now, no,” he said.
“I joked about dating sites, right? It’s like, I’m gonna be on the internet forever,” Sanderson added, referencing a quip he made during the trial about how his notoriety will preclude him from finding love.
Sanderson sued Paltrow back in 2019 over the brain damage he said he suffered as a result of their brutal ski collision. He initially sought $3 million in damages, but Judge Kent Holmberg lowered that amount to $300,000 ahead of the trial’s start on March 21.
Over the course of two weeks, jurors listened to testimony from a range of people, including Paltrow and some of her famous family members.
Paltrow said in a statement that she was “pleased” with the verdict.
“I felt that acquiescing to a false claim compromised my integrity,” she said. “I am pleased with the outcome and I appreciate all of the hard work of Judge Holmberg and the jury, and thank them for their thoughtfulness in handling this case.”
