Portland Ovations hit it out of the park twice in a row this spring.
“The Simon & Garfunkel Story” was perfect in every way: voices, sound quality, lighting, segmentation, costumes, manner, backdrop. The sold-out audience just swooned together, lost in happy memories.
And they did it again. “Fiddler On The Roof” was superb. Again with voices, stagecraft, costumes and now also expert dancing and choreography. They topped it off with a moving tribute to the heroes of the Ukraine, driving home the message the play has so long delivered about tolerance and justice. Again, the sold-out audience came together as one with heartfelt prayers for Russia’s defeat and withdrawal, and a restoration of that brave country.
Arts are inspiring us, unifying us and giving us hope in these dark times. Thanks to Portland Ovations and Merrill Auditorium.
