We’ve all heard of David and Goliath. Our Power vs. Avangrid certainly fits that description.

Letter writer Christopher Brent asks Our Power, a citizens’ initiative for a Maine-based nonprofit, to counter the ads that are coming nonstop from Maine Affordable Energy, the funder of which is currently making big profits (“Letter to the editor: Public utility debate comes down to ad spend,” April 17). It’s no wonder they are able to afford to fund so many ads.

We must hope that Maine voters will see this immense imbalance and recognize that supporting a publicly owned entity will reduce costs while eliminating the profit-taking. Meanwhile, I’m sure Our Power would welcome donations to help get the word out.
