One person was injured and several buildings lost power Friday night when a vehicle crashed into a utility pole in Portland, authorities said.

The single-vehicle crash happened at 7:50 p.m. at the vicinity of 783 Washington Ave. The driver was transported to Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, Portland Police Lt. Robert Doherty said.

The impact snapped the utility pole, Portland Fire Department Division Chief Sean Donaghue said.

The accident cut power to 1,375 customers, according to Jonathan Breed of Central Maine Power. Power was restored about 35 minutes later, Breed said.

The crash is under investigation, Doherty said.
