The Falmouth Town Council has unanimously approved making a $100,000 town donation to the reconstruction project at the Lee Twombly Pond at Family Ice Center.

The donation will come from an unassigned fund balance and will not impact taxpayers, according to Town Councilor Amy Kuhn.

The 25-year-old Lee Twombly Pond, which offers free outdoor skating throughout the winter,  has been closed because of needed refrigeration repairs. The Save the Pond campaign is working to raise $1 million for the reconstruction efforts.
