Connor Goss scored three goals, Nick Laughlin and Bobby Offit added two apiece and Cape Elizabeth won its 19th straight boys’ lacrosse game, prevailing 8-4 on Friday night at South Portland.

The Capers (13-0), ranked No. 1 in the Varsity Maine poll, also got a goal from Nate Patterson and held the Red Riots (9-3) scoreless for more than 27 minutes in one stretch.

South Portland paced by Beckett Mehlhorn and Lucas Mehlhorn with two goals apiece. Ben Kieu made 11 saves.

PORTLAND 17, BANGOR 12: Brady Toher finished with four goals and three assists for the Bulldogs (7-6) in a win over the Rams (9-4) at Fitzpatrick Stadium.

Andy Marvin added four goals and two assists, and Harry Rubin had three goals and three assists.

Bangor’s Richie Trott and Miles Randall each scored four goals.

WAYNFLETE 10, YARMOUTH 8: Seth Cloutier recorded six goals and an assist, and Roan Hopkins added two goals and three assists as the Flyers (10-2) beat the Clippers (9-4) in Yarmouth.

BASEBALL

YARMOUTH 4, GREELY 2: Jonny Cody hit a two-run single in the second inning and an RBI single in the fourth to help the Clippers (11-4) beat the Rangers (7-7) at Yarmouth.

Stevie Walsh, another senior in his final home game, made his first career start as a pitcher and allowed one run in four innings, striking out four. Andrew Cheever earned a three-inning save, with five strikeouts.

Wyatt Soucie, Sam Almy and Alex Gamache each had two hits for Greely.

CAPE ELIZABETH 4, LAKE REGION 1: Jimmy Hollowell went 3 for 4, including a go-ahead RBI single in the sixth inning as the Capers (12-3) beat the Lakers (1-14) in Naples.

Cape pitcher Jameson Bryant allowed four hits, struck out five and walked one over six innings. Gabe Hammon picked up the save with a scoreless seventh.

Jacob Chadbourne homered for Lake Region in the second inning.

SKOWHEGAN 12, BRUNSWICK 2: Brendan Dunlap produced four extra-base hits, and the River Hawks (10-5) scored seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to close out the Dragons (4-10) in Skowhegan.

Dunlap had a triple, three doubles, four RBI and three runs scored. Tyler Annis also scored three times, and Annis and Cooper Bardwell each had two hits.

Trevor Gerrish hit a double for Brunswick (4-10).

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 9, POLAND 1: David Black homered and Ian Libby contributed on the mound and at the plate as the Patriots (3-13) took down the Knights (6-9) in Poland.

Black drove in three runs and was one of four Gray-New Gloucester batters with two hits, along with Libby, Abe Bouchard and Nick Geer. Geer and Libby each had a double. Geer also drove in three runs.

Libby pitched 6 1/3 innings, striking out eight and giving up five hits.

Gene Grant and Alex Mains each had two hits for Poland.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 1, TRAIP ACADEMY 0: James Erickson pitched a three-hitter and drove in the only run as the Seagulls (3-13) downed the Rangers (2-13) at Kittery.

Erickson struck out eight and outdueled Zach Stacy, who allowed six hits and struck out six.

Erickson’s run-scoring single came in the first inning.

GORHAM 11, BONNY EAGLE 3: The Rams (10-5) scored eight runs in the first inning and coasted to a win over the Scots (3-12) in Gorham.

Mason Finck had three hits and scored twice, and Quinn Dillon walked four times and scored three runs.

Kyle Blaney and Caleb Racicot hit RBI singles for Bonny Eagle.
