The Maine Marine Patrol recovered the body of a New Hampshire man from the mouth of the Nonesuch River in Scarborough on Friday morning.

A fisherman first discovered the body of 46-year-old Greg Blute of Hudson, N.H., in the water around 7 a.m. and notified the Scarborough Police Department, the Maine Department of Marine Resources said.

Marine Patrol officers recovered Blute’s body approximately 500 yards from shore around 9 a.m.

Officials said Blute was wearing a life jacket, and a sit-on-top kayak belonging to him was also recovered.

The Maine Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy. A joint investigation will be conducted by the Maine Marine Patrol and the Scarborough Police Department.
