Portland Ovations announced their 2023-2024 season of arts programming, which includes six Broadway productions, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, MOMIX, Ukrainian folk-rock band DakhaBrakha, Madagascar the Musical and Johnny Cash: The Official Concert Experience.
“We have curated a vast array of performances that you can only find at Portland Ovations,” said Casey Oakes, Ovations Director of Marketing & Development. “This makes our season the perfect answer to the age-old question of, ‘What’s going on tonight?’”
From October to May, audiences will be able to catch 24 diverse events in and around Portland, Maine. Touring Broadway shows will include STOMP (Nov. 18 & 19, 2023), Come From Away (January 12 & 13, 2024), Jesus Christ Superstar (Apr. 12 & 13, 2024) and Mean Girls (May 16 & 17, 2024). Before Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (Apr. 30, 2024), dance and movement company MOMIX will present Alice (Oct. 19, 2023), based on the stories of Alice in Wonderland and perfect for the whole family. At the State Theatre, you can spend an evening with Sasha Velour (Feb. 29, 2024), John Cameron Mitchell and Amber Martin in Cassette Roulette (Oct. 21, 2023), or DakhaBrakha (Nov. 28, 2023), and Palaver Strings will hit the stage with little house dance (Dec. 6 & 7, 2024) for the world première of their new work, Noisefloor.
