ARLINGTON, Texas — Marcus Semien and Corey Seager had a hit apiece on the first two pitches of Bryan Woo’s major league career, sparking the Texas Rangers to a 16-6 rout of the Seattle Mariners on Saturday.

Semien doubled on the first pitch from Woo on his way to four hits, including a three-run homer. He extended his career-best hitting streak to 22 games, longest in the majors this season.

Seager singled Semien home on Woo’s second pitch, and Jonah Heim hit a tiebreaking two-run double later in the first after the Mariners had taken a 1-0 lead.

Seager added a two-run double in the second as Woo (0-1) allowed seven hits and six runs in just two innings. The 23-year-old right-hander got his first four outs on strikeouts.

Semien and Seager combined for seven hits, seven runs and six RBI as the Rangers scored at least 10 runs in a majors-leading 15th game. They’ve scored at least 15 runs five times.

ASTROS 9, ANGELS 6: Alex Bregman hit a grand slam and Chas McCormick homered to help host Houston beat Los Angeles.

The Astros, who have won three straight, broke it open with a five-run fourth, capped by Bregman’s grand slam. Martín Maldonado, Mauricio Dubón and Jeremy Peña loaded the bases on three straight singles before Yordan Alvarez had an RBI infield hit to end Angels starter Patrick Sandoval’s day.

WHITE SOX 2, TIGERS 1: Yoán Moncada scampered home on a 10th-inning wild pitch that appeared to knock down umpire Cory Blaser, sending Chicago to a win at home.

All three runs in the game were scored on wild pitches.

GUARDIANS 4, TWINS 2: Will Brennan hit the first homer allowed this season by Sonny Gray in the seventh inning and Logan Allen pitched six strong innings for Cleveland in a win in Minneapolis. .

Brennan drove in three runs and Andrés Giménez and Gabriel Arias each reached base three times in front of him. Steven Kwan added a solo homer in the ninth for Cleveland, which had lost three of four – including the first two games of the four-game series in Minnesota.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

PHILLIES 4, NATIONALS 2:  J.T. Realmuto hit a tiebreaking home run in the sixth inning and Philadelphia won in Washington to snap a five-game losing streak.

Realmuto, Bryce Harper and Josh Harrison each had two hits for the Phillies, who began the day tied with the Nationals for last place in the NL East.

BREWERS 10, REDS 8: Blake Perkins hit a grand slam for his first career homer and drove in five runs, helping Milwaukee top the Reds in Cincinnati.

William Contreras also went deep in Milwaukee’s third win in four games. Colin Rea (3-3) pitched five innings of three-run ball for the NL Central leaders, and Devin Williams closed it out after the bullpen faltered.

PIRATES 4, CARDINALS 3: Ke’Bryan Hayes homered for the second straight game, Connor Joe hit a go-ahead two-run double in the sixth inning and Pittsburgh won at home.

INTERLEAGUE

YANKEES 6, DODGERS 3: Aaron Judge hit his 19th homer and made an outstanding catch in the corner in right, Jake Bauers had a pair of two-run homers and Gerrit Cole stayed unbeaten with six innings of four-hit ball before leaving early in New York’s victory in Los Angeles.

Judge put a line drive into the short left-field porch in the sixth inning for the Yankees, who rebounded from an 8-4 loss Friday night in the opener of the high-profile interleague series.

The AL MVP then hung onto J.D. Martinez’s line drive in the eighth inning despite knocking open the door to Dodger Stadium’s visiting bullpen at the end of his sprint into the right field corner. The play might have prevented a run for the Dodgers, who had Max Muncy on first when Judge came up big.

ROCKIES 6, ROYALS 4: Elehuris Montero’s two-run triple highlighted Colorado’s five-run first inning and the Rockies hung on for a win in Kansas City, Missouri.

Matt Carasiti (1-0) earned the win with 2 1/3 innings in relief of starter Austin Gomber, who allowed a pair of runs on six hits and three walks over 2 2/3 innings. Justin Lawrence recorded four outs for his second save.

BLUE JAYS 2, METS 1: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a go-ahead RBI double in the ninth inning, leading Toronto past the Mets in New York.

Guerrero’s big hit came three pitches after Blue Jays manager John Schneider was ejected for arguing balls and strikes. Home plate umpire Charlie Ramos called the first pitch of Guerrero’s at-bat, which appeared to land low and out of the strike zone, a strike. Schneider shouted at Ramos from the dugout and was tossed before coming out and arguing at the plate.

MARLINS 12, ATHLETICS 1: Luis Arraez had a career-high five hits and five RBI and Miami won at home.

The major leagues’ leading hitter, Arraez hit three doubles and two singles to raise his average to .390. Arraez also became the first player in franchise history with five hits and five RBI in a game.

Joey Wendle doubled twice and singled for the Marlins, who finished with 14 hits.

The A’s dropped to a major league-worst 12-48 and lost their 13th straight on the road.

NOTES

MARINERS: Seattle placed left-hander Marco Gonzales on the 15-day injured list with a left forearm strain.

TWINS: Slugger Joey Gallo was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain before Saturday’s game against Cleveland.

Twins Manager Rocco Baldelli said Gallo has been dealing with the injury for “a little while now.” The team recalled outfielder Kyle Garlick from Triple-A St. Paul.

Gallo is batting .188 with 11 homers and 23 RBIs in 46 games this season. He leads the Twins in home runs and OPS (.799).

BREWERS: First baseman Jon Singleton is back in the major leagues for the first time in eight years after getting promoted by the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Brewers called up Singleton and outfielder Blake Perkins from Triple-A Nashville and put first baseman Darin Ruf and outfielder Tyrone Taylor on the 10-day injured list. Ruf has a right knee laceration and Taylor has a right elbow sprain.
