Not long ago I heard a retired psychiatrist say he wished he could ask the unhoused: “What would it take to get you off the street?”
This question has stayed with me. The problem is as complicated as these people’s lives. Seeking their deeply truthful answers is the key. Then we must find the political will and funds to follow through with the actual, not perceived, needs.
