It was a relief to see the editors of the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram finally stop treating Sen. Collins with the kid gloves they (and much of the Maine press, e.g., the Bangor Daily News) have been using for decades, while buying into her preposterous claim to be a moderate. Collins has been pulling the wool over voters’ eyes since she took office, but it is the job of the press to examine such claims closely instead of swallowing them whole cloth.

Thank you for doing your job and calling Collins out for propagating Trump’s lies about his trial and thus undermining our entire system of rule of law. Thank you for finally holding Sen. Collins’ toes to the flames she has been systematically fanning, for pointing out this is not the act of a moderate but of an extremist.
