I am a regular user of the Walker Memorial Library in Westbrook. It’s a wonderful library and the staff there are great.
The library has been able to get me anything I want to read through the interlibrary loan program. If a book I request isn’t available anywhere in Maine, they will even get it from another state. It is an absolutely wonderful resource and is my favorite use of my taxes.
Therefore, I was terribly disappointed and distressed to find out that the Maine library system has had to pause the interlibrary loans because of a contract dispute. This pause is going to put a real crimp in my summer reading. I hope the contract problem will be resolved as soon as possible.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
