I’m very concerned. The likely Republican presidential nominee, in my opinion, wants the government to be run like a business. This to me means: limit constraints, calculate relationships by what we get in return, punish your detractors, and hold the reins tight as the one and only boss. This is not democracy, this is a dictatorship.
Trump has pretty much said that is what he wants to do. I’m not sure this is a model that the United States wants to promote, especially with a person who has proven that he is not able to run an effective business. How many bankruptcies has he endured? Are there any successes?
I recognize the failure of trickle-down economics. It seems to be more a flash of cash to the few. I am a fan of feed the middle-class worker. It seems to be working very well.
We have limited choices this election season, but saving our democracy should be our No. 1 priority.

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
