A Saco man was killed in a crash Tuesday in Hollis when the car in which he was a passenger tried to turn in front of an oncoming car.

Maine State Police say an initial investigation indicates that 28-year-old Emily Rea of Saco was driving north near 661 Cape Road when she pulled into the oncoming lane to make a turn and was hit by a southbound car.

Rea’s passenger, Troy Tanguay, 51, died at the scene. Rea was taken to Maine Medical Center with minor injuries, police said.

The driver of the other car, 60-year-old Sean Foley of Lyman, was not injured.

Tanguay’s children have since started a GoFundMe to pay for his funeral.

“He always had the best sense of humor and loved the outdoors whether it was fishing, hunting, or just a walk,” wrote his daughter Tori Tanguay in the GoFundMe description.

She said she and her siblings want to give their father the funeral he deserves.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, police said.

The road was shut down for several hours after the crash.
