Hires, promotions, appointments

Katie Day was promoted to director of communications at Portland Ovations. She was hired in 2019 as a production designer and promoted in 2021 to marketing manager.

Jackie Curtis was promoted to senior vice president, senior human resources officer at Norway Savings Bank. She started working at the bank in 2022 as vice president of human resources and received the 2023 President’s Award.

The Children’s Museum and Theatre of Maine added five new members to its board of directors: Keyla Alston-Griffin, founder of the Digital Philanthropy Collective; Cameron Peden, senior vice president of people and resource development at United Way of Southern Maine; Katie Porter, an employment attorney at Pierce Atwood; Rose Splint, a nonprofit consultant; and Maya Williams, a poet, writer and Poet Laureate of Portland. The museum also created a new executive board with Gail Ringel as president,  Julie Ouellette as vice president, and members Udai Chopra, Rose Parsons, Julia Trujillo and Kristin Valdmanis.

Abel

Brendan Prast, family and preventive medicine physician at MaineHealth, was named the president of the board of directors of the American Heart Association in Maine. Dave Abel, president and general manager of Channel 8 WMTW and PWXT-Maine’s CW Portland, was named board chair. New members on the board are: Kevan Deckelmann, a partner at Dentons Law Firm; Aline Iskandar, an interventional cardiologist at Northern Light Mercy Hospital; Mindy Beyer, program manager of cardiovascular services at MaineHealth; Thomas Lyons, vice president of operations at MaineHealth; Alison Nason, director of marketing and operations at Mainebiz; and Steve Woods, president and CEO of TideSmart Global and Promerica Health.

Cameron Garrett was hired as executive director at Northeast Hearing and Speech. She was most recently the executive director of Islands Community Medical Services in Vinalhaven.

Cornelio

Lauren Cornelio was hired at University Credit Union as a community engagement manager based in Scarborough. She is a 2024 graduate of the University of Southern Maine with a master’s in organizational leadership.

Giving back

Norway Savings Bank donated $20,000 to the University of Southern Maine Foundation to support its McGoldrick Center for Career and Student Success, the new hub on the Portland campus.

Evergreen Credit Union donated $50 for every goal scored by the Maine Mariners in the 2023-2024 season through its Goals for Food initiative. The total amount of $6,450 was given to Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger in Maine, which contributes to organizations fighting food insecurity in the state.
