The Portland High School Football Hall of Fame announced its 2024 class, which includes Maine’s first Olympic medal winner, two former James J. Fitzpatrick Trophy finalists and six former All-State players.

The list includes:
Dylan Bolduc, Class of 2017, was a Fitzpatrick Trophy finalist in 2016, leading the Bulldogs to the Class A state final, which they lost to Bonny Eagle. Bolduc was also given the 2016 Schmidlin Trophy as the top player in Class A football and went to play in the 2017 Lobster Bowl. He was named to the 2016 All-State team and was chosen Portland’s Fall Athlete of the Year by The Forecaster.
Zack Elowitch, Class of 2019, was a Fitzy finalist in 2018 after setting a program record with 2,159 yards. Elowitch was named to the All-State team and was chosen Portland’s Fall Athlete of the Year by The Forecaster.

Nathan Kaponga Maumba, Class of 2019, was an All-State player in 2018 and is the program’s all-time sack leader with 19. He’s also Portland’s all-time single season sack leader with 16 in 2018. After playing at the University of New Hampshire, Kaponga Maumba is currently playing for the University of Akron.
Edmund “Rip” Black, Class of 1924, was named All-State as the state’s best fullback in 1923. Black went on to play football and run track at the University of Maine, then he captured Maine’s first Olympic medal in 1928, winning the bronze in the hammer throw. Black is a Maine Sports Hall of Fame and University of Maine Hall of Fame inductee. Sports Illustrated named him the fourth-best athlete to come out of Maine, while Down East magazine called Black Maine’s best Olympic athlete.
Scott Derrig, Class of 2001, was an All-State player in 2000 and holds the program record for receptions (93), including a program-best in a single season with 64 in 1999. Derrig is also fifth-best in return yardage (515).
Greg Whitten, Class of 1983, was an All-State player in 1982, served as a captain that year and anchored the offensive line on a Class A state championship winning team. Whitten went on to play at Springfield University.
