Director Todd Field’s three major films racked up a whopping 14 Academy Award nominations, and the Midcoast resident will be in Portland on Oct. 5 for a screening of one of them.

The 2001 Maine-set drama “In the Bedroom,” starring Sissy Spacek, Tom Wilkinson and Marisa Tomei, will be screened at the Portland Museum of Art at 3 p.m., immediately followed by a discussion with Field.

“In the Bedroom” was filmed in several Maine locations including Camden and Rockland. The drama centers around an older couple faced with a horrific tragedy involving their adult son.

“In the Bedroom” earned five Oscar nominations, including best picture. Field was nominated in 2023 for best director and best original screenplay for “Tár,” which was also up for best picture.
