Ben Morin converted a penalty kick in double overtime for his second goal of the game, lifting South Portland to a 2-1 win at Gorham in a Class A South boys’ soccer game Saturday.
Chuma Johnson scored for Gorham (5-3).
South Portland is 3-4.
KENNEBUNK 8, MASSABESIC 0: Levi Christopher paced the Rams (4-3-1) with two goals and an assist in a win over the Mustangs (0-8) at Kennebunk.
Ben Urban and Jack Tomasulo each added a goal and an assist. Cooper Thompson, Jackie Thombs, Marcelo Pastora and Grahame Bean also scored.
GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 5, LAKE REGION 1: Logan Inman and Boje Kautz scored two goals apiece as the Patriots (5-1-1) defeated the Lakers (2-5) in Gray.
Carter Laliberty also scored for Gray-New Gloucester, while Dylan Blair scored for Lake Region.
MEDOMAK VALLEY 1, LINCOLN ACADEMY 1: Julius Empt punched in a rebound with 12 minutes remaining and the short-handed Eagles (3-3-1) tied the Panthers (5-1-2) in Newcastle.
Nevan Power converted a penalty kick 10 minutes in for Medomak Valley.
The Eagles played a man down when one of their defenders received a second yellow card.
FOOTBALL
CHEVERUS 34, BIDDEFORD 7: Matt Baker gained 227 yards on 24 carries and scored two touchdowns as Cheverus (2-2) earned a 34-7 win over Biddeford (1-3) in a Class B South game in Portland.
Baker also threw a TD pass to Devin Kelly. Isaac Horler and Igor Bittencourt each had a rushing touchdown.
Kelly kicked four extra points and Brady Mitchell made with an interception for the Stags.
Biddeford dropped to 1-3.
OXFORD HILLS 40, SCARBOROUGH 0: Carter Wyman rushed for three touchdowns as the Vikings (1-3) earned their first win of the season, shutting out the Red Storm (1-3) in a Class A game at Paris.
Oxford Hills led 14-0 after one quarter, thanks to two short TD runs by Wyman.
A fourth-and-10 conversion on a deep pass from midfield helped the Vikings pad their lead in the second quarter, as Malaki Sparks scored on a 6-yard run.
Oxford Hills added three touchdowns in the third – 12 yards each by Jackson Stack and Wyman, then a 79-yard burst by Cameron Roy.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
SCARBOROUGH 1, SANFORD 0: Delia Fravert’s goal 10 minutes into the second half held up for the Red Storm (5-0-1) against the Spartans (3-2-1) in Scarborough.
Fravert laced a rebound from the top of the box into the left corner. Vera DiSotto preserved the shutout by making six saves.
MARSHWOOD 5, PORTLAND 1: Lucy Parker tallied three goals, Isabelle Tice and Jackie Arnold also scored, and the Hawks (5-3) handled the Bulldogs (0-7) at Fitzpatrick Stadium.
Maddy Poitras and Sydney Leveille each got an assist for Marshwood.
Kiley McCrum scored for Portland.
GORHAM 4, THORNTON ACADEMY 0: Piper Forgues put in two goals, Julia Reed and Ashley Connolly also scored, and the Rams (5-1-1) shut out the Trojans (4-1-1) in Gorham.
Lydia Spear made four saves for Gorham. Thornton’s Ava Lomax stopped 11 shots.
CHEVERUS 3, KENNEBUNK 0: Sofia Monfa broke a scoreless tie with two goals in the second half as the Stags (6-0-1) defeated the Rams (2-2-4) in Kennebunk.
Monfa converted a breakaway after a throughball 7:32 after halftime, then made it 2-0 with a similar goal. Taylor Hoglund rounded out the scoring in the final five minutes.
Evelyn Rush stopped five shots to record the shutout. Kennebunk’s Teagan Hanson made 12 saves.
WELLS 1, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0: Caitlin Sheils’ first-half goal made the difference as the Warriors (4-3) defeated the Patriots (2-4-1) in Gray.
Wells keeper Savannah Tardiff made four saves, while Hailey Carson had six stops for Gray-New Gloucester.
LEAVITT 1, MORSE 0: Reese Billodeau redirected Carina Castagna’s cross in the first half, and the Hornets (3-4) shut out the Shipbuilders (5-2-1) in Bath.
Leavitt’s Hailey Welch made six saves.
FIELD HOCKEY
GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER/NYA 2, YORK 1: Kenlie Nadeau and Greta Tod scored as the Patriots (7-0) won at home against the Wildcats (2-3).
Emma Bowden and Abby Lacombe assisted on the goals for Gray-New Gloucester/NYA, which led 1-0 at halftime and 2-0 in the third quarter.
York’s Sophia Luchette scored an unassisted goal in the fourth quarter.
BRUNSWICK 1, OXFORD HILLS 0: Sadie Correa scored with an assist from Quinn McCormack in the third quarter, and the Dragons (2-4-1) beat the Vikings (0-6) in South Paris.
Ella Duchette stopped three shots for the shutout. Kya Smith of Oxford Hills made seven saves.

BUCKSPORT 3, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 1: Chloe Shervanick had 12 digs, five aces and three kills for the Panthers (0-6) in a 25-18, 27-25, 18-25, 25-17 loss to the Golden Bucks (2-3) in Yarmouth.
Eleanor Zuiches and Kiana Roundy finished with three kills apiece, and Nizzie Hemphill had 10 digs for NYA.

Emily Beal also scored with and assist from Grace Cunningham, and Madison Tibbals made one save for Gorham.
Eva Hersey scored and Makayla Coy stopped nine shots for Marshwood.
FRYEBURG ACADEMY 1, GREELY 0: Brooke Blood scored with an assist from Addie Valente in the second quarter, and the Raiders (5-1) held off the Rangers (2-5) in Fryeburg.
Sophia Carone (two saves) and Brennan Slosberg (one save) combined on the shutout, while Mya Vickerson stopped six shots for Greely.
FRIDAY’S BOYS’ SOCCER
NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 3, TRAIP ACADEMY 0: Jacob Colaluca had a goal and an assist, Eamon Tansey and Jordan King also scored, and the Panthers (5-1-1) beat the Rangers (3-3) in Yarmouth.
Harry Seely also was credited with an assist and NYA keeper Gavin Thomas stopped seven shots.
Jack Downs made seven saves for Traip.
