The shore of Sebago Lake will provide visitors with a taste of Munich on Saturday, Oct. 5, thanks to Monkstoberfest, one of the most popular annual events hosted at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine in Standish each year.

Monkstoberfest is a festive Oktoberfest celebration with an SJC twist, and is part of Homecoming Weekend at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine. The event, which runs from 4 to 7 p.m., will be held at the historic Stone Barn at Sebago Lake.

“Each ticket includes a drink ticket, a commemorative SJC beer stein, and delicious German-style food. It’s become such a beloved gathering that attracts SJC alumni and friends,” said Haley Thompson, senior vice president of marketing, advancement and admissions/enrollment at the college.

Monkstoberfest, a title that also pays tribute to the college’s Monk mascot, will also feature live music. The event is open to the public and ages 21-plus. Limited tickets are $35 at the door.

All proceeds from Monkstoberfest will benefit the Saint Joseph’s College Community Rising Fund, including sponsorships from businesses like Norway Savings Bank, which contributed $1,000 this month.

“The Community Rising Fund helps Saint Joseph’s students receive need-based financial aid and scholarships,” said Thompson.
