Hires, promotions, appointments

Jamie Mawhinney was promoted to chief operations officer for the Atlantic Federal Credit Union. She has worked at AFCU for 12 years.

The Maine Island Trail Association named Ben Dougherty as its new executive director. He succeeds Doug Welch, who held the position for 17 years. Dougherty most recently served as CEO/head of school for The Island School on Eleuthera in The Bahamas.

Watson

Chelsea Watson was hired as community engagement specialist at Evergreen Credit Union. She will also be working with the Local Lending Partners program. Watson has over eight years of experience in leadership roles in the banking industry.

Giving back

The Mascoma Bank Foundation donated $25,000 to Avesta Housing to support the creation of a new program assisting moderate-income households achieve ownership and housing stability.

Recognition

The Finance Authority of Maine’s College Access and Financial Education Team received the Champion of Education and Workforce Development Award from the Maine Development Foundation. The CAFE Team provides college and financial education to students, families, counselors and advisers, including education debt management services.
