Abby Chamberlain scored twice in the second half to lift Gorham to a 3-1 win over Scarborough in a Class A field hockey game in Scarborough.
Chamberlain’s first goal came off a penalty corner in the third quarter. Her second, early in the fourth, was assisted by Reece Leclerc. Annabelle Collier scored an insurance goal for the Rams (6-4).
Laine Niles scored for Red Storm (5-5).
THORNTON ACADEMY 5, PORTLAND/DEERING 0: Shyla McVeigh scored twice as the Golden Trojans (5-3-1) beat the Bulldogs (0-9) in Portland.
Autumn Wiles, Olivia Lamey and Cora Bolduc also scored for Thornton Academy.
Emma Walsh stopped 55 shots, including a penalty stroke in the fourth quarter, for Portland/Deering.
GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER/NYA 3, EDWARD LITTLE 0: Kenlie Nadeau scored her second hat trick of the week to lift the Patriots (10-1) past the Red Eddies (4-6) in Auburn.
Nadeau also scored three goals in Monday against Fryeburg.
Olivia Byther had two assists, while Emma Bowden had one for Gray-New Gloucester.
Gray-New Gloucester/NYA goalie Samantha Poulin made two saves. Sophia Gerry and Ruby Harris each made two for Edward Little.
BIDDEFORD 4, FALMOUTH 0: Ayla Lagasse scored three goals and the Tigers (9-2) pulled away in the second half against the Navigators (6-4) at Biddeford.
Mia Mariello chipped in with a goal and an assist, and Eliza Doyon set up two goals. Biddeford led 1-0 at halftime.
Mariah Villandry needed just three saves for the shutout.
CHEVERUS 7, NOBLE 0: Jaylee Radford scored twice, Lucy Johnson had a goal and two assists, and the Stags (11-0) breezed past the Knights (4-6) in Portland.
Zoey Radford, Gabrielle Blais, Anna Kennedy-Jensen and Mary McCartney each added a goal.
SANFORD 3, KENNEBUNK 0: Audrey Payeur led the offense with a goal and an assist, Elle Davis and Ali Long also scored, and the Spartans (6-2) shut out the Rams (3-9) in Sanford.
Kennebunk goalie Faith Flynn made 21 saves.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
DEERING 1, PORTLAND 0: Elsa Freeman’s goal in the first overtime lifted the Rams (4-6-2) over the visiting Bulldogs (1-10).
Freeman ran onto a through ball and chipped it over Portland goalie Linda Nicholson, who was charging out of her net.
Nicholson stopped a penalty kick by Freeman in the first half.
GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 3, POLAND 2: Ashley Anderson, Hailey Carson and Hannah Bolduc scored in the first half to give the Patriots (4-6-2) a 3-0 halftime lead, and they held off a comeback bid by the Knights (4-6-1) in Gray.
Arianna Gammon and Jillian Palmer scored for Poland, which got 12 saves from Olivia Rioux.
Carson, Gray-New Gloucester’s keeper, finished with three saves.
KENNEBUNK 1, WESTBROOK 0: Anna McCarron converted a throughball from Ava McCourt 3:14 into the second overtime, giving the Rams (4-3-4) a win over the Blue Blazes (2-8) in Kennebunk.
Teagan Hanson made 10 saves to earn the shutout. Greta Krantz of Westbrook stopped eight shots.
SCARBOROUGH 2, WINDHAM 1: Paige Garlock scored the go-ahead goal late in the first half, lifting the Red Storm (7-1-2) over the Eagles (8-1-1) in Scarborough.
Windham, the No. 2 team in the Varsity Maine top 10, opened the scoring on a goal from Marley Jarvais.
Fifth-ranked Scarborough pulled even on a free kick from Josie Duncan.
THORNTON ACADEMY 3, NOBLE 2: Charlotte Belanger got her second goal of the game with 3:33 left in the first overtime as the Trojans (7-1-2) fought off the Knights (1-9) in North Berwick.
Thornton erased a 1-0 halftime deficit and grabbed a 2-1 lead on goals by Kayleigh Corriveau and Belanger. Noble’s Hannah Perro, though, forced overtime when she scored her second goal with 1:25 left in regulation.
SANFORD 4, BIDDEFORD 0: Ava Hudson scored the opening goal and added two assists as the Spartans (6-3-1) beat the Tigers (1-10) in Sanford.
Brielle Landry converted a corner kick by Hudson to make it 2-0 going into halftime. Cassidy Hickey and Kalyn Stuart added second-half goals.
FREEPORT 5, YORK 4: Kessa Benner broke a 3-3 tie midway through the second half by converting a Silvi Strong corner kick, and the Falcons (7-3-1) were aided by two own goals in a wild win over the Wildcats (2-8) at York.
Julia Whalen connect on a 30-yard free kick in the first half, then set up a Lana DiRusso goal off another free kick in the second half.
Scarlett Ring and Chloe Deluca each scored twice for York. Ring’s goals were a 35-yard blast in the first half and a penalty kick in the second half.
FOOTBALL
FRYEBURG ACADEMY 47, BRUNSWICK 6: Ty Boone returned two punts for touchdowns and finished with three TDs as the Raiders (5-1) rolled past the Dragons (2-4) in Fryeburg.
All of Boone’s touchdowns, including punt returns of 40 and 35 yards, came during a 28-point second quarter that gave Fryeburg a 38-0 lead.
Ricardo Schulz booted two field goals, from 25 and 41 yards. Jagger Helwig opened the scoring with a 14-yard catch from Benny Amason, and Aron Gadolla and Conner Keaten each added short TD runs.
Brunswick’s touchdown was a 14-yard run by Trenton LaGrange.
BOYS’ SOCCER
LINCOLN ACADEMY 4, ERSKINE ACADEMY 0: Cole Workman, Adam St. Cyr and Pedro Mayans each scored in the first half as Lincoln Academy (6-4-1) beat Erskine Academy (3-8-1) in Newcastle.
Til Glaser scored from Peter Thelander in the second half for Lincoln Academy.
VOLLEYBALL
FALMOUTH 3, CHEVERUS 2: Sofie Asbjornsen and Olive Clark combined for 38 kills, and the Navigators (7-5) rallied from two sets down to beat the Stags (3-8), 16-25, 26-28, 25-15, 25-22, 15-12.
Abby Shaw contributed 11 aces and 15 assists, and Hannah Roche finished with 32 assists.
GREELY 3, WELLS 0: Annabelle Talley recorded 16 kills as the Rangers (8-4) swept the Warriors (4-8) in Cumberland, 25-20, 25-23, 25-20.
Maddie Croteau contributed 13 assists, two blocks, five digs and three kills.
