A Portland man accused of shooting a teenager on Forest Avenue early Tuesday morning is facing attempted murder and assault charges, police say.
Dominic Moncada-Sanchez, 19, was arrested late Tuesday night in South Portland, less than 24 hours after police say he shot a 17-year-old at an apartment complex in Portland.
Moncada-Sanchez is charged with aggravated attempted murder, elevated aggravated assault and violating conditions of release. He was taken to Cumberland County Jail after his arrest.
Police responded to a report of shots fired at the Meadowbrook Apartments complex at 1390 Forest Ave. around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday, police department spokesperson Brad Nadeau said in a statement. There, police found a 17-year-old who had suffered a gunshot wound.
The teen was taken to Maine Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and was in stable condition, Nadeau said.
Police did not identify the teen or their hometown and have released scant details about the circumstances of the shooting.
