The New England Patriots will likely will be shorthanded on offense again this Sunday.

Top running back Rhamondre Stevenson (foot) and starting left tackle Vederian Lowe (ankle) both were absent from Thursday’s practice, the team’s last before it heads to London for its Week 7 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Stevenson has not practiced or played since New England’s Week 5 loss to Miami. He missed last Sunday’s 41-21 loss to the Houston Texans, and the Patriots’ run game struggled in his absence. Running backs Antonio Gibson, JaMycal Hasty and Terrell Jennings combined for 44 yards on 21 carries, with quarterback Drake Maye gaining a team-best 38 yards on five rushing attempts.

Lowe was injured during the Houston game when Maye was sacked into his right ankle. The 25-year-old tackle also missed two contests earlier in the season with a knee injury.

Losing Lowe for this week’s game could lead to even more shuffling of the Patriots’ depleted offensive line, including a potential move back to right tackle for Mike Onwenu. Onwenu, who started the last two games at right guard, said he’s taken reps at both positions this week.

STEELERS: Justin Fields seems to be at peace with the idea of getting benched in favor of Russell Wilson, even with the Pittsburgh Steelers at 4-2 and tied with Baltimore for first place in the AFC North.

While the fourth-year quarterback knows he’s done some positive things while filling in as Wilson rehabbed a nagging calf injury, Fields isn’t sure his performance produced a compelling enough case to Coach Mike Tomlin that Fields should remain the starter even when Wilson returned to full health.

“I don’t think I played good enough, if I’m being real with you,” Fields said. “If I’m being real with myself, I think if I did play well enough I don’t think there would be any sort of ‘who should be playing, who should not.’ ”

Though Tomlin has declined to announce a starter for Sunday night’s visit from the New York Jets (4-2), all signs point to the 35-year-old Wilson making his Pittsburgh debut.

BROWNS: The team officially announced plans to leave their 25-year-old stadium on the shores of Lake Erie when the lease expires in 2028 and move to a domed facility in suburban Brook Park despite the city’s efforts to keep it in Cleveland.

Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb met Wednesday with owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam, who told him they were moving forward with their intention to build the $2.4 billion facility and entertainment complex 12 miles south of downtown.

TITANS: Three-time Pro Bowl safety Jamal Adams’ tenure with Tennessee ended on his 29th birthday with his release after the team placed the eight-year veteran on reserve/non-football injury list last weekend.

That roster move came after the Titans (1-4) already had declared Adams out with a hip injury.

Adams started one of three games played for Tennessee, and he had just one tackle Sept. 30 in the Titans’ one win at Miami.
