Maine House of Representatives District 140: Arundel, Dayton, Lyman
Republican and incumbent Wayne Parry is opposed by Democrat Jason Nedeau.
WAYNE PARRY
City/Town: Arundel
Relevant Experience: Six terms (12 years) in House of Representatives
Transportation Committee – 12 years, with eight years as the Ranking Member (Republican Lead).
Why are you running for office?
I was tired of just complaining about what was going on in Augusta. I think I’m able to bring some common sense which there is little of in Augusta today and some checks and balances to government. One Party Democrat rule is destroying the Maine I grew up in.
What are your top three priorities?
Sustainable Transportation Funding: We must have sustainable funding in our transportation system. Our roads and bridges and other transportation infrastructure take a back seat to other pet projects.
Property Tax Relief: Especially for our longtime senior residents. To me the property tax freeze bill was the way to do it. The bill we passed needed some amending, but should have never been completely done away with. Seniors are being taxed out of their homes and this must be addressed.
A Trained Workforce: We need to train our current and next generation in the trades. We need carpenters, electricians, plumbers, machinists, truck drivers, etc. I heard a stat the other day that for every five workers of these type jobs retiring, only two are replacing them. That is a disaster in the making. We have made some strides in this area, but we need to do better. One other huge area of need is medical field workers.
