Although we’re still technically six days away from Halloween, there’s a ton of events happening now.
The annual Thriller Throwdown is at 5:30 p.m. Friday in Portland’s Monument Square. You’ll see about 100 zombie dancers, led by a Michael Jackson impersonator, recreate the “Thriller” video. When that ends, you’re just steps away from the 7 p.m. showing of “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” at Merrill Auditorium. The film features live accompaniment on the Kotzschmar organ by Portland municipal organist James Kennerley. We’ve got details on these and several other spooktacular events.
Need a snack before you catch the Thriller Throwdown? Head to Boda at 671 Congress St. in Portland from 4-5 p.m. for buy one, get a second half off on all skewers. The Thai restaurant also has some deals on cocktails and draft beers.
Film guru Dennis Perkins wins Halloween with this roundup of where you can see eight scary movies, including “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” at The Nickelodeon and “The Bloody Lady” at Space.
In the mood for some live music? There are still tickets left to see rocker Todd Rundgren tonight at Aura in Portland. Or see Raging Brass at One Longfellow Square. We’ve got details on these and dozens of other shows.
Need other weekend ideas? We’ve got ’em. Harvest on the Harbor runs through tomorrow, and there are still tickets left From the Sea: A Culinary Voyage + Oyster Shucking Competition and the Maine OysterFest. You can also catch a Collective Motion dance performance at The Hill Arts or head to the Lost Valley Fall Festival.
Hungry for more? Head to Finestkind at 17 Pepperell Square in Saco. The F.K.F.C. chicken-and-biscuit sandwich will make your taste buds very happy. Dig in!
