Hurricane Helene in the South, and last winter’s disastrous storms in Maine, highlight the stark contrast between our two candidates for president. Across the U.S. today, most of us recognize that the growing intensity of severe weather events is real – and is caused by our use of polluting fossil fuels.

Kamala Harris endorses a transition to non-polluting solar, wind and other renewable energy sources. Her opponent endorses the use of fossil fuels, a recipe for more even destructive weather.

The incredible power of Helene is showing us what severe weather really means. Many of our Southern neighbors’ lives are completely upended by unprecedented flooding, and resulting damage. Recovering from events like these will take years and cost billions.

A vote for Kamala Harris will bring more renewable energy, more stable weather patterns and a better future. It is the best gift I can think of for my granddaughters.
