The Oct. 17 op-ed by Durin Chappe and Tim Paradis (“Democrats risk losing key constituencies over support for Israel“) was so antisemitic, I don’t know where to start.

Before Israel became a nation, the British offered both Jews and Arabs one nationhood. The Jews accepted, even though they would have been a minority, but the Arabs refused. So, Israeli independence led to war and a policy of many Arab countries to murder or expel all Israelis.

The UN has been so anti-Israel, for many years, that its regional analysis has never been reliable. The authors’ obvious dislike for Rep. Jared Golden seems far-fetched. What congressmen anywhere would refuse to meet with their constituents? Like their other charges, this makes no sense.

The loss of life in Gaza is terrible. But so are rape, kidnapping and murder of Israelis and the placing of Hamas military units in schools and hospitals. A truce and multi-nation conferences are needed to work on lasting peace. Bad decisions have been made by all Middle East countries. Israel is not alone in this.
