In his Oct. 12 letter (“Harris is unfit for the presidency”), the writer seemed to confuse the presidential candidates. His letter becomes accurate when “Trump” is exchanged for “Harris.” It becomes a clear and compelling statement of why Trump is not fit to be president:
“The Republican Party…is in the process of perpetrating the most desperate scam on the American pubic in recorded history. Donald Trump’s unfitness to be president of the United States is of epic proportions.
“Trump has zero credibility, is a radical extremist, is wildly inconsistent in his statements and positions, is inexperienced, unaccountable, vacuous, insecure, plastic, ditzy, has a mean streak, and is incapable of putting two coherent sentences together.
“The Trump administration has deeply divided the American people and corrupted or undermined every government institution. Voting for Trump-Vance would further put our country in peril.”

We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
For those stories that we do enable discussion, our system may hold up comments pending the approval of a moderator for several reasons, including possible violation of our guidelines. As the Maine Trust’s digital team reviews these comments, we ask for patience.
Comments are managed by our staff during regular business hours Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturday and Sunday. Comments held for moderation outside of those hours may take longer to approve.
