New York City-based dancer, choreographer, director and photographer Kayla Farrish will be performing in Westbrook on Dec. 5.

The focus of Farrish’s work is identity, mythical dualities of history and the survival of Black and Brown lineages. With an eye trained on freedom and humanity, Farrish works with musicians and other artists to create live performance, films and site-specific/immersive experiences.

Farrish is the recipient of the 2023 Ellis-Beauregard Foundation Choreographer Award. The Rockland-based foundation has a mission to provide resources and support for artists, engage with community and sustain the legacy of the founding artists Joan Beauregard and David Ellis.

Farrish and her dance collaborators take the stage at 7 p.m. Dec. 5. The Westbrook Performing Arts Center is at 471 Stroudwater St. Tickets are $35, $20 for students. Get them at portlandovations.org.
