A recent letter to the Sentry (“Yard South embodies South Portland’s housing values,” Oct. 15) criticized the No Yard South group for spreading “misinformation and fear.” Similar letters have appeared in the Portland Press Herald. Information distributed by NYS is taken directly from the pre-application and application submissions submitted to the Planning Department by PK Realty as well as from presentations done by Yard South. NYS is not making up any of these facts and we have unfailingly modified our print materials to reflect any changes in those documents to ensure accuracy.

We all want workforce housing; sustainable development; attention paid to climate change. Anyone who thinks that the old shipyard with contaminated soil; next to 13 oil tanks; already flooding during major events such as Jan. 13, 2024; on a peninsula with one road in and out; and towering over our premier park needs to start paying attention to the research associated with No Yard South that reliably demonstrates this is not an acceptable residential project for this location.
