The New School and Community Outreach Services announced last week that the second annual Bowls of Hope raised more than $3,000 to support local education and community service programs. Held on Nov. 2, the community-centered event brought together local businesses, artisans, and residents for a cause, all while sharing soups and handmade ceramic bowls.

According to a news release, the event was “sponsored by the Kennebunk branch of Bangor Savings Bank and featured beautiful, student-made bowls crafted with materials generously donated by The Cellar Co. Each unique bowl was paired with a variety of soups donated by beloved local eateries, including Bev’s Cafe & Market, Chez Rosa, Frinklepod Farm, Garden Street Bowl, H.B. Provisions, and the Nonantum Resort.”

“Bowls of Hope is all about the power of community — bringing people together to support one another,” said Christine Knowles, director of education at The New School. “We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors, our local restaurant partners, and everyone who attended. Thanks to their generosity, we’re able to make a tangible difference for both The New School and Community Outreach Services.”

All proceeds from the event will be split between The New School and Community Outreach Services, supporting educational initiatives as well as food security programs for residents in need throughout the Arundel, Kennebunk, and Kennebunkport area.
