John C. Emond, 63, of Westfield Extension, Biddeford, died unexpectedly on Oct. 18, 2024.
The son of John and Joan Emond, John graduated from Biddeford High School in 1979, and from Boston College in 1983. He also attended one semester at Pepperdine Law School in California before opting to return home and pursue other goals.
A tireless and loyal worker, John held two full-time positions at the time of his death, including the U.S. Postal Service at its Forest Avenue facility in Portland and with Tractor Supply at its Scarborough store.
John was an avid reader of history, and he was a remarkable wit and storyteller. His passions included the Boston Celtics, traveling through the Western United States and golf. John spent much of his free time hitting the links, and he particularly loved the course at Samoset Resort in Rockland. John sought out adventure in his life, including white water rafting in Alaska, and taking an extended rafting trip down the Colorado River. On a separate trip, John drove to the Arctic Circle leaving from a base point at Watson Lake, Canada. He was, in these adventures, fearless.
John had no spouse or children but is survived by a large and now saddened group of close friends, including Pat Babino of Scarborough, Maine, and her children; Ken Reynolds of Westbrook, Maine; Anthony Scavuzzo of Biddeford, Maine; Daniel Snow of Saco, Maine; James Cole of Dayton, Maine; and the Murphy Family of Saco, Maine; among many, many others, including current and former co-workers from Shaws, the Maine Turnpike Authority, Scarborough Downs Race Track, the U.S. Postal Service and Tractor Supply.
A burial service will be held for John on May 17, 2025, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Saco, with a celebration of John’s remarkable life to follow that same day. John loved the U.S. National Parks, and in lieu of flowers, it is asked that any gifts be made directly to the National Parks Foundation, 1500 K St., NW, Suite 700, Washington, D.C. 20005 in honor of John. Questions can be directed to Tim Murphy at Prescott Jamieson Murphy Law Group, in Saco, Maine; telephone number: 207-282-5966.
