Logan Doughty led a balanced offense with 10 points, and Gorham held Windham to single digits in every quarter on its way to a 33-25 win Tuesday night in Class AA girls’ basketball game in Gorham.
Gorham is 2-0.
Stella Jarvais paced Windham (1-1) with 14 points.
CHEVERUS 68, BONNY EAGLE 29: Abby Kelly and Addison Jordan each scored 16 points, and Kylie Lamson added 13 points, eight rebounds and seven assists as the Stags (2-0) routed the Scots (0-2) in Portland.
Kylie Cole led Bonny Eagle with nine points.
MARSHWOOD 53, WESTBROOK 37: Isabelle Tice scored 15 of her 22 points in the second half as the Hawks (2-0) pulled away from the Blue Blazes (0-1) in South Berwick.
Emily Clark and Sarah Theriault each chipped in with 10 points. Clark had six points in the fourth quarter as Marshwood secured the win by outscoring Westbrook 17-7.
Audrey Doolittle and Lyla Dunphe each scored eight points for Westbrook.
SCARBOROUGH 48, PORTLAND 31: Ellie Rumelhart led a balanced attack as the Red Storm (2-0) beat the visiting Bulldogs (0-2).
Scarborough also got nine points from Megan Rumelhart, as well as eight points, 11 steals, five assists and five rebounds from Emerson Flaker.
Portland was paced Baleria Yugu with 15 points, and Lawino Bendasta with eight points and 14 rebounds.
BIDDEFORD 58, KENNEBUNK 30: Mia Mariello finished with 18 points, while Natalia Silva and Gabriella Silva added 13 and 11 points, respectively, to lead the Tigers (2-0) over the Rams (0-2) at Kennebunk.
Kendall Therrien paced Kennebunk with 15 points.
THORNTON ACADEMY 56, MASSABESIC 48: Sienna Eldred and Olivia Sirois each scored 14 points to lead the Trojans (1-1) over the Mustangs (0-2) in Saco.
Thornton also got 11 points from Brooke Bodnar. Sirois made four 3-pointers – three in the opening quarter.
Lydia Desrochers paced Massabesic with 19 points. Megan Roy scored 11, including three 3-pointers.
SOUTH PORTLAND 63, LEWISTON 29: Destiny Peter and Emma Travis scored 18 points apiece for the Red Riots (2-0) in a win over the Blue Devils (0-2) in Lewiston.
Mya Lawrence contributed 12 points.
Ella Beaudoin tallied 14 points for the Blue Devils.
YORK 66, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 55: Nya Avery poured in 30 points to lead the Wildcats (1-0) past the Raiders (0-2) in York.
Piper Catanese helped out with 11 points.
Ines Palomino and Phoebe Sartory topped Fryeburg with 16 points apiece. Presli Knapp scored 11.
MT. ARARAT 52, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 37: Kayleigh Wagg finished with 14 points while Jaelyn Jensen and Cali Pomerleau added 10 points apiece to lead the Eagles (2-0) over the Patriots (1-1) in Gray.
Abbey Steele led Gray-New Gloucester with 16 points. Izzy Morelli scored 10.
PINE TREE ACADEMY 40, TELSTAR 23: Chantal Mbonimpa paced the Breakers (2-0) with 18 points in a win over the Rebels (1-2) at Bethel.
Marra Soram added 11 points.
Taejyah Lego paced Telstar with 10 points.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
WINDHAM 75, GORHAM 67: Tyrie James finished with 25 points, while Colin Janvrin and Conor Janvrin added 13 and 10 points, respectively, as the Eagles (2-0) beat the host Rams (0-1) in a rematch of last season’s Class AA state championship game.
Griffin Gammon led Gorham with 19 points. Atticus Whitten scored 18 points and Preston Brown chipped in 14.
KENNEBUNK 59, BIDDEFORD 33: Theo Powe and Cole Perkins combined for 17 points in the third quarter as the Rams (2-0) used a 27-14 spurt to finish off the Tigers (1-1) in Biddeford.
Powe led Kennebunk with 23 points – 10 in the third quarter. Perkins added 14.
Owen Sylvain paced Biddeford with 10 points.
SOUTH PORTLAND 62, LEWISTON 46: Carmine Soucy sank three 3-pointers in the first quarter as the Red Riots (1-1) opened a 24-12 lead and cruised from there against the Blue Devils (0-2) in South Portland.
Soucy and Manny Hidalgo each finished with 15 points and Tom Malogi added 13 for the Red Riots.
Abdirahman Dakane scored 13 points and Joao Samba had 10 for Lewiston.
SCARBOROUGH 61, PORTLAND 53: Carter Blanche scored 14 of his 21 points after halftime as the Red Storm (2-0) downed the Bulldogs (0-2) in Scarborough.
The Red Storm also got 16 points from Adam Fitzgerald.
Portland was paced Maddox Meas with 20 points and Lucas LeGage with 13.
CHEVERUS 69, BONNY EAGLE 35: Leo McNabb scored 20 points, Shema Rwaganje added 17, and the Stags (2-0) eased past the Scots (0-2) in Standish.
Jameson Fitzpatrick also reached double figures with 11 points.
Colin Moran made three 3-pointers to finish with nine points for Bonny Eagle.
MARSHWOOD 50, WESTBROOK 49: Liam Tiernan scored 21 points, including the winning free throw in the closing seconds, and the Hawks (1-1) edged the Blue Blazes (0-1) in Westbrook.
Tiernan made the second of two free throws following a technical foul with under 10 seconds remaining. Westbrook’s Dimitri Lubin stole the ball on the ensuing inbounds play with three seconds left, but Paddy Walsh’s driving layup attempt bounced off the rim as time expired.
Moses Semuhoza led Westbrook with 20 points, followed by Walsh and Excellent Uwizeye with eight apiece.
SANFORD 75, EDWARD LITTLE 67: Brady Adams scored 17 points to help the Spartans (2-0) beat the Red Eddies (1-1) in Sanford.
Ryan Alexander made four of Sanford’s 13 3-pointers and finished with 15 points.
Diing Maiwen (18 points), Akol Maiwen (15) and Cedric Makelele (12) reach double figures for Edward Little.
THORNTON ACADEMY 71, MASSABESIC 34: Wyatt Benoit scored 16 of his 26 points in the first quarter as the Trojans (1-1) raced to a 26-0 lead over the Mustangs (0-2) in Waterboro.
Liam Hamilton finished with 10 points and Simon Gellis added nine.
Caden Nielsen tallied 10 points for Massabesic.
YORK 63, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 53: Reece MacDonald led the Wildcats (2-0) with 30 points in a win over the Raiders (1-1) at Fryeburg.
Ryan Cummings contributed 15 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.
Bojan Bundovski scored 17 points and Jagger Helwig had 11 for Fryeburg.
LINCOLN ACADEMY 61, WINSLOW 53: Chase Coffin scored 13 points and Drew Hunt added 10 as the Eagles (2-0) beat the Raiders (1-1) in Winslow.
Braden Rodrigue led Winslow with 25 points and five assists. Brady Poulin also reached double figures with 10 points.
MT. BLUE 80, CAMDEN HILLS 67: The Cougars (2-0) built a 20-9 lead in the first quarter and led throughout in a victory over the Windjammers (0-2) at Farmington.
Tyler Abell hit three 3-pointers and was 8 of 10 at the free-throw line to score 21 points for Mt. Blue. Carter Norton contributed 18 points, Nolan Leso scored 13, and Evan Drake (6 of 6 free throws) had 10.
Nolan Ames of Camden Hills led all scorers with 38 points, including four 3s and 16-of-16 free-throw shooting. Thomas Leadbetter added 13 points.
