LISBON — Police say they have arrested a 41-year-old Massachusetts man after an investigation revealed “multiple instances of identity theft” in Lisbon and in surrounding towns.

A statement from Chief Ryan McGee released Friday said his department arrested Carlin Rigaud Thursday “following an extensive investigation.”

Lisbon detectives charged Rigaud with felony forgery, felony theft by deception, and two counts of misuse of identification. Bail for Rigaud was set at $15,000. He was transported to the Androscoggin County Jail.

Lisbon Detective Richard St. Amant collaborated with other local law enforcement agencies investigating similar crimes in their areas, according to the statement.

“Representatives from Auburn Police Department, Freeport Police Department, and Topsham Police Department joined Lisbon detectives at the Lisbon Police Department, where Carlin Rigaud was also charged by these agencies for crimes committed within their jurisdictions,” the statement said.

The investigation continues, McGee said, in Maine and in Massachusetts.
