Caroline Rousseau scored twice and Ashley Cloutier broke a tie midway through the second period as Cheverus/Windham/Medomak skated to a 5-2 win over the Penobscot Pioneers in a girls hockey game Wednesday at Penobscot Ice Arena in Brewer.
Joey Pompeo and Jaylee Radford also scored for Cheverus (9-1-1), the unanimous No. 1 team in the Varsity Maine poll.
Jordin Williams got both goals for fifth-ranked Penobscot (5-4-2).
LEWISTON 4, GREELY 3: Courtney Lachance broke a tie with 4:27 remaining, lifting Lewiston/Oak Hill/Mt. Ararat/Morse to a win over Greely/Gray-New Gloucester at The Colisee in Lewiston.
Crew Langley and Avaya Desjardins each had a goal and an assist and Alexa Castonguay also scored for the Blue Devils (6-5). Emma Berube had two assists.
Zoe Trepaney had a hat trick for the Rangers (0-12) with all three goals set up by Jane Flynn.
Riley Walters made 17 saves for Lewiston, and Greely’s Charley Louie stopped 22 shots.
BOYS HOCKEY
LEWISTON 1, FALMOUTH 0: Matt Levasseur scored 4:08 into the second period and Will Routhier made 22 saves as the Blue Devils (4-3) knocked off the No. 1 team in the Varsity Maine poll, beating the Navigators (7-1) at The Colisee in Lewiston.
Nate Metivier and Colten Daniels assisted on Levasseur’s goal.
Falmouth goalie Brandon White stopped 17 shots.
BOYS BASKETBALL
DIRIGO 58, BOOTHBAY 49: Nathaniel Wainwright scored the 1,000th point of his career during the fourth quarter and finished with a game-high 30 points for the Cougars (5-5) in a win over the Seahawks in Boothbay.
Owen Smith added 11 points and Ryan Wing had nine for Dirigo (5-5).
Tyson French led Boothbay (2-7) with 16 points.
